This week we took a tour of the country and ended up in Kalmar.
On Thursday Henrik and Niklas packed the van full of beer, hopped in and aimed it at Stockholm. After doing some deliveries, the van was aimed at Kalmar. In Kalmar Henrik was joined by a genuine Kalmar local, Linus Pilebrand. Linus is an apprentice at the brewery, and if you’re not already following his adventures you’re missing out. Get in touch with him on Instagram, where he’s know as The Brewey Apprentice. The local press (24Kalmar) even got word that he’ll be back in town and released this interview of him. (Sorry but it’s in Swedish ;))
As we mentioned, this is the first time we’re in Kalmar, and we’ve looked forward to meeting some new people. For our international fans who don’t know anything about Kalmar, it’s a city in the southeast of Sweden, situated by the Baltic Sea. It had 36,392 inhabitants in 2010 and is adjacent to the main route to the island of Öland over the Öland Bridge (Read more about it on Wikipedia) or check the map below.
We brewed our first Berliner in October last year, and called it Berliner Wise-Guy. Since then we have used that beer as the base recipe for all four of our new Berliners. We’ve also decided to treat the labels a bit different, and use a more illustrative style. This different treatment even goes down to the naming.
We’ve had ”I lost my cherry by the salty sea” which included salt, pepper and sour cherries.
This was followed by ”A Passion for Gingers” with Passion fruit and ginger.
Number three was ”What’s the difference between Marmalade & Jam?” with Raspberries and Mint.
The latest one is called ”What’s better than Roses on your piano?” where we added Hibiscus, Lavender and Elderflower. We hope you enjoy it out in the sun.
As breweries goes, we’re not part of the norm. Sure we brew Pale Ale, IPAs, Stouts, etc. But what makes us different is that we’re always trying to bring new beer to the market, in our attempt to create the Beer Library or as we say in Sweden, Beerbliotek. So far we’re brewed 156 different beers in the past 3 years, to try and match the markets thirst for new beers.
Of course we have a standard range. It’s just taken us a longer time to create it than most, because we brew so many different beers. On our labels you’ll notice a number and what that number signifies is which number the beer is in our ”collection”. #05 is Bobek Citra, and it was the 5th beer we brewed. #049 is Hip Hops, the 49th different beer, and so on. Below are the 8 beers available at the local Swedish store, and part of our standard range of beers, #05, #07, #09, #049, #101, #120, #126 & #143.

All In Beer Festival 4-5 November 2016
One of our favourite festivals is the All In Beer Fest. The reason? It’s just about beer.
