Two more beers heading to Systembolaget and one of them even went in Rum Barrels – Biweekly Brewery Update

We’re a brewery that likes to experiment. We like to find out what is around the corner, and that’s why the word ”no” is not often heard in the brewery. We believe the Craft Beer industry still has a long way to go in Sweden, and we’re glad we’re part of it all.

On that experimental note, today we filled our first Rum barrels with our latest Oat Stout. ”Still haven’t found what you’re looking for?”, our 200th beer, which we wrote about last week, has now also been used to fill these barrels.

This is not the first beer to go into barrels either, we’ve done over ten different barrels. In 2016 we wrote about the last time we filled Whiskey Barrels, as well as the first of our barrel aged beers to go into a can.

We have two Rum Barrels, one belongs to us, and the other to the Beerbliotek Member’s Club. So if you want to become a member, and get your hands on some of that beer, you can do so here.

How long this beer will be in the barrel is unclear. A while would be my guess, but time will tell.

Two new beers are joining A Moment of Clarity at Systembolaget on the 1st of December. One Double IPA and one Oat Stout. They’re both on 8% and perfect for when the nights are longer and we’re all drinking beer around candle light.

The Double IPA ”Du luktar lite some första gången jag träffade dig” has already been released at our Tap Room, and the Oat Stout ”Still haven’t found what you looking for?” is being packaged in a week or so. It was our 200th beer, so is getting some special care.

A Moment of Clarity is available at ten stores in Gothenburg, and you can order a tray of 24 to your closest store. Stay tuned for more news later on.

When we decided to add cans to our packaging assortment, along with bottles and kegs, the most important consideration for us was the environment. A bottle takes up double the amount of space that a can does, so everything is double, from transport, to storage. There’s also the other facts that there is less oxygen in a can compared to a bottle, and no light shines through to affect the beer, so cans are better for the product. This past week we read an article about Upper Hand Brewing also moving across to cans, and another positive they focussed on was the idea that cans can go more places than bottles.

”Part of the allure of living in and visiting the U.P. is the amazing opportunities for outdoor recreation,” Laura Bell, CEO of Bell’s Brewery Inc. and Upper Hand Brewery, said in a press release. ”Cans can go more places than bottles – whether exploring the trails, campgrounds, or beaches, we want our fans to feel comfortable bringing us along on their adventures.”

Since day one we have always done our own deliveries. We thought it’s important to show face, say hi, and have a chat with our customers. We do export to more than 15 countries at the moment, and have distributors that take care of a lot of that, but our three main cities in Sweden, Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö, still get their beer delivered by us. Or more accurately Henrik, our Sales and Export Manager or Anders, Co-owner & Logistics Manager.

Just today Henrik took the van and headed east to Stockholm. Sure there must have been some Hip Hop playing on the radio, and his Adidas sneakers tapping away, as he made his way across the country for the five plus hour trip.

Hopefully everyone in Stockholm will appreciate their hand brewed, hand delivered beer a little more tonight.

We can just say thank you for the support we have received since opening our Tap Room late last year. We’ve made a lot of new friends and even have our regulars who stop by for whatever is fresh on the menu or whatever is new.

Our latest Double IPA ”Du luktar lite some första gången jag träffade dig” made it’s debut over the weekend, and we’re happy with the positive feedback.
