This week we packaged a lot of IPAs, and all of them will be available at our Tap Room over the weekend, we share some disturbing news from the US that has small brewers worried, and we show some of our favourite beer photos from Instagram.
Lots of fresh IPAs at the Beerbliotek Tap Room.
All weekend long 🙂
Crazy days. That’s the best way to describe the past week. The canning line has been humming, cause it’s summer and everyone wants more IPAs.
Two weekends we had two IPAs side-by-side at our Tap Room, A New England next to a West Coast IPA. This week we decided to have no less than five IPAs available. Three of them are fresh and will be on tap. The other two will be in the fridge.
On Keg there’ll be a fresh ”Hip Hops”, next to a fresh ”Colonial Hipster”. Then we decided to put a keg of ”Super Larsson World” on again, so we’re hoping for sunny weather this weekend.
In cans, and in the fridge there’s a fresh batch of ”Not Guilty! The Juice IPA”, a fresh batch of ”A Moment of Clarity. GBG Beer Week 2017”, and ”Session IPA”, our low ABV beer (Folköl) which can also be bought as takeaway.
The rest of the beers on the Beer List are ”Whoop Ass”, ”A Passion for Gingers”, ”A Passion for Strawberry Blondes” and ”Mocha Latte Stout”.
As said, now we’re just hoping the weather plays along 🙂
A snack for every sip.
Nuts to indulge your senses.
This past year, we’ve had a lot of events where food was a central focus of the beer experience. A Cheese and Beer Bonanza with Hilda Nilsson Ost. There was Ice Cream Headache with Lejonet & Björnen. Beermaker brunches, lunches and dinners.
Here in Sweden, Craft Beer is growing rapidly. Breweries are popping up all over the place. A lot of breweries, such as ourselves, have opened their own Tap Room, where you can taste their beer.
So with that I thought we could start sharing some news on food and beer pairings we find. First up is Central Roast, from Toronto, who’s more than just another snack company, they help you make healthy choices. They use only pure, all-natural ingredients in their signature blends and their nutritious snacks aim to fit your lifestyle as well as gourmet treats to indulge your senses. They keep it simple by ensuring freshness, functionality and flavour. To show that their products work with beer they publish the page below in the magazine Foodism.
Some of our favourite photos.
From Instagram.
We really enjoy looking through our Social Media accounts at some of the photos being uploaded by people who like our beer. Not everyone is trying to be creative. You do get some boring photos of beer in a glass, but there’s some that puts in a little extra effort.
Below are some of those from the past few weeks we found on Instagram. Thanks a lot 🙂
Some News.
Craft beer in America goes flat.
One could safely say that the world Craft Beer market is following the trends from the US. Here in Sweden, where we have access to all the great breweries around the world, because of the state owned liquor store, Systembolaget. We’re truly spoiled for choice.
The IPA trend, however, is directly from the US. So are beer in cans. Colourful designs. And the willingness to experiment. And those are the trends that most Swedish breweries have been following.
The Economist has just published a very interesting article, that shows the slowing beer market and the might of AB InBev has small brewers worried.
The state in the US at the moment are that they had 5,000 breweries to pick from in 2015, whereas 35 years ago there were under 100. And although the number of brands has exploded, the number of drinkers has not. Sales have been flat for a few years and 2017 has been especially slow so far.
”The dip in sales is the result of two problems, one old and one new. First, the consumption of wine and spirits is growing more quickly than that of beer, and has been for nearly 20 years. Women are drinking more booze but often prefer wine and spirits. Men are turning to a wider range of drinks, including whisky and wine.
The second difficulty is that after years of effervescent growth, craft beer has gone flat. Volumes grew in 2016, but half as quickly as in 2015. In the 13 weeks to June 17th craft-beer sales and volumes both dropped, by 0.7% and 1.5%, respectively. It may be that craft beer has reached its natural limit, both because there are only so many people who want to buy it and because there is only so much shelf-space that stores can provide.”
That’s maybe the reason why Craft Breweries should start joining together, to see that the competition is not the other Craft Breweries, or even the bigger ”Lager” breweries, but other drinks. Beer vs. wine. Beer vs. Drinks. That could be the key.
And finally.
A little bit of holiday.
Next week the brewery will be on a bit of a much deserved holiday. The guys definitely deserve it. This year we have brewed 16 new beers, launched five new beers at Systembolaget in Sweden, not to mention all the festivals we’ve been to.
But as we all know, a brewery never really closes. Sales carry on, and the beer in the tanks continue fermenting, ready to be packaged the day we open.
That’s it for this week, until next week.
Cheers
