In this week’s Biweekly Brewery Update we prepare for all the upcoming events during GBG Beer Week, discuss our most recent collaboration, reminisce about a great weekend at Haket’s beer fest. We also celebrate the reviews of A Moment of Clarity and introduce our new beer: What is lagom, egentligen?.
GBG Beer Week 2018.

2018 marks Gothenburg’s 4th annual GBG Beer Week, and this year it starts on Easter Friday.
Friday 30/3
We are going to be very busy from Friday onwards, starting with the Beery Dog Walk from Beerblotek to Brewdog, meeting at 13:00 at our Tap Room. That same evening, starting at 17:00, we are hosting one of our favourite local artists Somenid, who will be doing a live painting at our Tap Room from 17:00 onwards. Somenid’s painting from the evening will then be auctioned off and there will also be a pop-up shop where you can buy t-shirts & prints.
Saturday 31/3
This Saturday we are hosting an Easter Feast with our friends the BBQ Boys, where we will have food and beer available for purchase from 14:00. The theme is a Louisiana Po Boy theme with both vegetarian and meat options for our guests. Nom nom nom.
Tuesday 3/4
This Tuesday we will be joining up with Brewski and 2112 for a Fried Chicken and IPA. Join us at 2112, for our favourite IPAs paired with what 2112 promises to be some of the best fried chicken you’ve ever had. Starting at 16:00.
Wednesday 4/4
Next Wednesday at our Tap Room, we are excited to host Ice Cream Headache, a beer and ice cream tasting event together with our friends Lejonet & Björnen. Last year this was a crazy success, and due to popular demand, we’re giving it a second go. Why not bring your family, because everybody loves ice cream right?The event will start at 17:00.
Thursday 5/4
It’s time for some barleywine & cheese pairing at our Tap Room! For this event, we delved into our beer archives and found some aged cases of barleywine that we think will pair awesome with cheese, and we invited our good friends from Hilda Nilsson Ost from Saluhallen to bring their expertise in cheese and beer pairing.There will be five different beers matched with five different kinds of cheese.
As an extra treat, we will also be visited by Nils Oscar Bryggeri from Nyköping, and we will be serving our collab, Brewers in arms II. a Kölsch style ale.
On Thursday, we will also be collaborating on Beards and Brews with the Mr Bear Family, Odd Island Brewing and Mikrofonbryggeriet at the Mr Bear Barbershop, from 18:00 where you can get your moustache or beard trimmed while tasting the different folköl available from the 3 breweries.

The climax of GBG Beer Week,En Öl & Whiskymässa i Göteborg, and where you will be able to find us both days.
Haket Ölfestival Batch #3
One of our favourite watering holes held their third beer fest last weekend.
The folks over at Haket are good friends of ours, and Haket is one of Gothenburg’s best watering holes where you can always find some great craft beer and a laid-back atmosphere. Last weekend they hosted their 3rd beer fest, this time with 35 different breweries representing and over 80 different beers to try. We were there, and we had so much fun, we didn’t get to take any good pictures!
Naparbier Collab in Spain
Richard travelled down to Spain two weeks ago to brew some beer with Naparbier.
Co-owner and one of our head brewers, Richard Bull was recently in Spain to brew a collab with Naparbier. The collaboration is a Westcoast IPA, which will soon be available both here in Sweden and in Spain. While he was in Spain, he also visited the Bodega Otazu Vinyeard, where he collected a few barrels. Richard also represented Beerbliotek in a Tap Takeover at Cervecería Manneken which was a great success, was at a meet-the-brewer event at NaparBCN and then attended the Barcelona Beer Festival.
One of the most fun things we do as a brewery is to participate in collaborations with other breweries. The great advantage to doing this is also cross-exposure, where we can give exposure to other breweries in the markets we sell in, and of course, vice-versa. One of the growing markets for us is Spain and the rest of Southern Europe, and so these kinds of events and trips give us great opportunity to meet the new market and collect new fans of Beerbliotek.

A Moment of Clarity – 5 out of 5
A Moment of Clarity, which is now in over 100 Swedish stores was given 5 out of 5 points by the Expressen.
On the 1st of March, our beer A moment of Clarity officially went into 106 stores here in Sweden as a permanent article. We’ve received some great feedback and responses from a lot of you, including a great recommendation from the Expressen, who gave the beer a 5 out of 5 review and recommended it to pair with your Swedish Easter feast this coming weekend.

What is Lagom, egentligen?
Our 211th beer is exactly that, lagom.
Although we all speak Swedish, many of us who work at the brewery are not originally from Sweden. When you learn a new language, there are always some favourite words that stand out from your new vocabulary. Much like the Danish word hygge, which has recently taken the world by storm, one of the Swedish words that is consistently a favourite among us is the word lagom.
In Danish, hygge (pronounced “HUE-gah”) is one such word. Though there are many ways to describe hygge, we see it simply as the Danish ritual of enjoying life’s simple pleasures. Friends. Family. Graciousness.
Lagom (pronounced [ˈlɑ̀ːɡɔm]) is a Swedish word meaning ”just the right amount”. The Lexin Swedish-English dictionary defines lagom as ”enough, sufficient, adequate, just right”. Lagom is also widely translated as ”in moderation”, ”in balance”, ”perfect-simple”, and ”suitable” (in matter of amounts).

Lagom is also a word that has such a subjective meaning, what is lagom for me, may not be lagom for you.
So, Beerbliotek’s take on a lagom beer? It is balanced with the right amount of rye, a perfect ABV, and way too much hops, because what is lagom, egentligen? A Rye Session IPA.
