Christmas is starting early at the Brewery tap Room, we’re packaging our collaborations and we’re heading to Mikkeller Viktoriagade this weekend – Biweekly Brewery Update

A sign with the opening times in the window of the Beerbliotek Tap Room in Gothenburg Sweden.

Things have calmed down after the All In Beer Fest, our collaborations with De Molen, Norway Brewing Co & Örebro Brygghus are being packaged, we’re heading to Mikkeller Viktoriagade this weekend and Christmas is starting early at the Brewery Tap Room, where we’re releasing Christmas Nights, our 2015 Spiced Porter.

Our Brewery Tap Room

Where there’s something for everyone.

We’re close to our one year celebration at the brewery Tap Room. Time has sure flown by. So far we’re happy with being open every second weekend, as that gives us time to have a very different Tap List every time we’re open.

It really is a place that has something for everyone. Just take this weekend, if you like IPAs, there’s four different ones on tap. We have our new Fruit IPA C’MON MIRANDA on tap again, with a fresh batch of NOT GUILTY! THE JUICE IPA & COLONIAL HIPSTER, both which are available at Systembolaget, and then for the first time the IPA we brew for our local pub Ölrepubliken apply named BEERREPUBLIKEN.

In the fridge we have all the Double IPAs and darker beers. The gem in the fridge is CHRISTMAS NIGHTS our Spiced Porter we brewed in 2015. It’s now four years old and shows off the spices really well. It’s very smooth. Two of the new beers heading to Systembolaget on the 1st of December will also be available this weekend, so don’t miss out on the Oat Stout STILL HAVEN’T FOUND WHAT YOU’RE LOOKING FOR? and the Double IPA DU LUKTAR LITE SOM FÖRSTA GÅNGEN JAG TRÄFFADE DIG.

Three Gold Medals.

We love the Gothenburg Porter Festival.

Starting Beerbliotek has never been about awards. It was about making great beer that we like and which we can proudly stand behind. It doesn’t hurt when you get an award for your effort.

This past weekend it was time again for another local festival in the Gothenburg Porter Festival. It’s all about dark beers. There’s no discussion about the difference between Porters and Stouts. It’s people who love dark beers that attend and the awards are based on the votes from the attendees.

This year we won three Golds. ETERNAL DARKNESS won for best Imperial Porter, the same prize it won in 2015, while ETERNAL DARKNESS BA won best Barrel Aged Stout and the final prize of Best Stout going to BOOK OF RECORDS our Oat Stout.

That’s why we’re happy with our newest Oat Stout STILL NOT FOUND WHAT YOU’RE LOOKING FOR? is heading to Systemboloaget on the 1st of December.

Three Collaboration

Ends at the All In Beer Fest #goodtimes

The past three weeks we’ve completed the three collaborations with our friends from all over the world, and it all ended with the All In Beer Fest. We always try and do collaborations over the All In Beer Fest week, while there are so many breweries in town. Strike while the iron is hot as they say.

The All In Beer Fest was as always a lot of fun. There’s so many great breweries in attendance, and the fact that we don’t have to work all the time, but can actually also drink some beer. All work and no play make Jack a dull boy.

Brouwerij De Molen

The great Dutch brewery De Molen more light beers, but most people know them for their dark beers. This Imperial Stout tastes great. We packaged it today, and during the photo shoot there’s always a glass filled with the latest product. So tasting is part of the job. And as I said, it tastes great.

The name is Donker och Deadly from the three languages we all speak, Dutch, Swedish and English. The label is based on the template from our brewery, but with the black and white feel that De Molen uses for al their beers. Old school modern retro.

We’re holding onto this one a bit and might only release it in the new year, but we promise it’ll be worth the wait.

Norway Brewing Co.

Collaborations are an integral part of our brewing philosophy and this is the story of two breweries, from opposite sides of the Atlantic who, neither really liking Brown Ales, got together to brew a Brown Ale.

So after a lot of to‧ing and fro‧ing, we settled on NOT AN UDDER BRWON ALE. And having two designers in house, from each brewery they sat down together for the day to design the label together. It’s not just the brewers that know how to have fun.

Örebro Brygghus

When our coffee craving friends from Örebro headed south to brew with us, we knew they’d only have one thing on their mind. This Coffee IPA is brewed with coffee from our friends at Pennybridge Roasters in Örebro.

We tasted some from the tank this afternoon, and that coffee really works a charm.

The name of the beer is I DON’T USUALLY DRINK COFFEE, and the label is a take on that, with a map of Sweden, showing the trip between the two breweries.

Hello Copenhagen

Come and say hi at Mikkeller Viktoriagade.

On Saturday the 25th of November we will invade Mikkeller Bar Viktoriagade where they will be the proud hosts of 10 taps.

The selection will range between lighter Hoppy Beers, Fruited Sours, juice bomb IPAs, Imperial Stouts as black as Swedish midnight and will include some of our collaborations with other international breweries. Adam and Richard will be joined by Henrik, so don’t get starstruck when you see them hanging in the bar – say TJENARE!

Some News.

Sours are quickly becoming the funky gateway into the world of craft beer.

We’re very happy we held onto our original brewery, where we now only brew sour beers. We changed the name to Sockerbruket Sour Brewery, to differentiate from our bigger brewery up the road in Kungssten. Sour beers have always been one of our favourite beer styles and the fact that we have a brewery just to play around with sours are great. But don’t take our word for it…

”To a mainstream beer drinker, the list of featured beers at a recent Washington-area festival might sound like a truly weird beer geek’s Christmas list: a crisp, briny gose that gets its flavor from local oyster liquor — the liquid you slurp from the half shell — and is fermented with yeast cultured from the shells of oysters; tart Berliner weisse-style beers brewed with blood orange, mango and passion fruit, or a mix of cucumber and mint, that taste more like juice bar treats; and a sour Belgian-style brown ale with half the spices in your local supermarket, including star anise, ginger and grains of paradise.

And finally.

Our Denmark & Russian orders have just shipped.

This past week we sent big shipments to our neighbours in Denmark, as well as Russia. So be on the lookout in about two weeks when the stash should be available at a bar near you. Anders, one of the owners, and head of logistics, will also soon be packing pallets to go to a few more international customers. If you’re in a country that doesn’t stock our beer, then get in touch, to see if we can find a distributor.

That’s it from us for this week. Until next time.
