Behind the scenes at our brewery we have been busy playing around with some fun brews on our smaller kit.
Session IPA is a one-time, small, limited beer release created by our intern, Molly, as part of the beerbliotek experimental brew project. We create the opportunity for interns at our brewery to design their own recipe and brew that beer on our small kit. This helps them gain valuable experience and knowledge before they head out into the world.
Make sure to read all about Molly & her beer here.
beerbliotek experimental brew is a project focussed fully on exploration and experimentation. With a small 100 litre brew kit we get to go nuts, push boundaries and play with ingredients and different styles. It gives us the freedom to experiment, hence the name.
Not all of these small experimental brews make it to the outside world. To celebrate this beer & getting back to the pub life, we exclusively released this beer to our local neighbouring pub, The Red Lion. Safe to say a great time was had by all. We’re thankful to be able to share these small releases with you at our local bars.
Session IPA – 4,5%
An uncomplicated and easy-drinking hazy golden-yellow Session IPA. This thirst-quenching beer is packed full of hoppy goodness at a sessionable strength for when you want to take it a little easier. Citra hops give a refreshing mix of citrus, tropical fruits and grapefruit notes that are complemented by piney, herby and even more citrus from Simcoe hops. Balanced with a gentle, sweet finish and just enough bitterness to round out each sip.
I chose to brew a Session IPA. I felt like this style would be perfect for the summer heat that is hopefully here to stay, and I enjoy thirst-quenching beers packed with flavour – from the creator, Molly.
Cheers / skäl to all who joined us on Tuesday for the release of Session IPA. Big love to The Red Lion for hosting & making a great night, as always. Keep a look out for more experimental brew releases, we may have one brewing as we speak.
