Beer releases, Collaborations

Beer Release #273. It’s 4-way or the highway. A German Pale Ale.

A four-way collaboration beer with two Swedish Craft Breweries and two German Craft Breweries Freigeist Bierkultur, beerbliotek, All In Brewing, FrauGruber. A German Pale Ale

This is a four-way collaboration between two Swedish breweries, and two German breweries brewed at our Gothenburg brewery. This beer is named 4-way because there were four breweries involved in deciding the recipe. The design is a crossing of four roads, in different colours.

Freigeist Bierkultur – Co-founder and internationally known Gypsy German brewer Sebastian Sauer strives to revive and update Germany’s regional historical beer styles and re-identify German local brewing traditions. Keep up to date with them here

FrauGruber Craft BrewingBrewing beers in all styles, they say their hobby is in IPA’s, but make everything from a Pils, to a Kellerbier, to a Weizoppelbock (and so much more). It’s great to see such an increase in high quality beers from new German breweries like this one. Find out more including the origin of their name here.

All In Brewing – We’ve been friends with our Gothenburg neighbours for a long time and have done many events together. Until they have their own brewery up and running, they  travel the globe brewing beers with our friends.Follow them to see what they’re up to here.

It’s 4-way or the highway

This is a German Pale Ale, brewed with German Ale Yeast fermented cold, like a lager. It’s kind of a Kölsch style, but it’s not. It’s Kölsch-ish (emphasis on the ish). It’s not made in Cologne, and it’s dry- hopped. So it’s definitely not a Kölsch. Is German Pale Ale a real style? Well, it’s what happens when four breweries create a recipe together.

This beer is the link from a Modern Lager to a Pale Ale.

Fruity esters from the yeast and citrusy tones from the hops are built on top of a malt body in the aroma, with a fairly pronounced grassy bitterness, reminiscent of a lager. Hopped with Hallertau Blanc, Cascade and Citra keeping traditional lager tones with a modern twist.

We brewed this beer at the beginning of November, just after All In Beer Fest 2019. It’s not our first beer made together with Pelle Frost from All In Brewing, in fact we’ve brewed about 8 beers together with All In, but it’s our first time collaborating with Sebastian Sauer from Freigeist Bierkultur and Enzo & Daniel  from FrauGruber.

We’re constantly brewing new, small batch beers of all styles. A lot are one-offs, most have a bizarre name fuelled by an inside joke, and all are beers that we, ourselves, want to drink. We often brew with a lot of breweries too, with people who we like, who we’ve met from all around the world, and always create a recipe together that showcases the strengths of their brewery and what inspires us the most.

We are Beerbliotek

A Craft Brewery founded in Gothenburg (Sweden) by four friends from different parts of the world. Our brewing philosophy is simple… keep brewing new beers that we, ourselves, would want to drink.

Our name is derived from the Latin word bibliothēca, meaning library, or a collection of books. A Beerbliotek, for us, would then mean a beer library, or a collection of beer.
