Beer Release #272. Meaningless Guttural Sounds. A Fruited Kettle Sour

This is our third collaboration with the guys over in Denmark at Flying Couch Brewing, and this time we made a Fruited Kettle Sour with Sea Buckthorn and Blackberries at their brewery in October. We first encountered these guys through Kim from Søernes Ølbar in 2014 and from there the first two collabs came. After that, we’ve bumped into each other at a lot of festivals and always have a great time with them. When we knew we were going down for the Great Swedish Beer festival in Malmö, we reached out to them to brew up another fun beer and hang out. After some talking, together we decided to first make a Kettle Sour with sea buckthorn. Later we all agreed to add some salt for balance as sea buckthorn is pretty tart, and add some fruity blackberry goodness. Night and Day, a 8,0% Black IPA, was the first in the series of collaborations with Flying Couch way back in 2014. We brewed this variation in Sweden. We used Pale Malt, Caramunich II, Chocolate Rye, Roasted Barley and Carafa Special I for the malt backbone for this beer. We have then Cascade, Chinook and Simcoe hops for a spicy citrus character. Our second beer in the collaboration series was our 8,5% DIPA Day and Night, brewed in Denmark. The idea was to brew two Double IPA’s one black and one White with very similar recipes, save the dark malts. The hops are in principle the same as Night and Day, in Cascade, Chinook and Simcoe for a spicy citrus character.

We are Beerbliotek

A Craft Brewery founded in Gothenburg (Sweden) by four friends from different parts of the world. Our brewing philosophy is simple… keep brewing new beers that we, ourselves, would want to drink.

Our name is derived from the Latin word bibliothēca, meaning library, or a collection of books. A Beerbliotek, for us, would then mean a beer library, or a collection of beer.
